Château de Saint Cosme, the leading estate of Gigondas, has been in the Barruol family since 1490 and converted to biodynamics in 2010 under Louis Barruol. Its flagship vineyard, Le Claux, originally planted in 1870, produces a Grenache-dominant field blend, with some vines dating back to the original planting. The 1.8-hectare site features 60-year-old average vine age, massal selection, and whole-cluster fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aged in 20% new barrels and bottled without fining or filtration, Le Claux represents the essence of this historic estate.
