Lenkey Furmint Estate Selection (Furmint Válogatás) 2013
£44.99
Lenkey Furmint Estate Selection 2013 is a distinctive Hungarian white wine from the historic Tokaj region, specifically the village of Mád, known for its volcanic soils and exceptional terroir. Produced from carefully selected Furmint grapes from several top vineyard parcels, this wine reflects the traditional style of the Lenkey estate with minimal intervention and long maturation.
Fermented with native yeasts and aged extensively in Hungarian oak barrels before further bottle ageing, it develops remarkable complexity and depth. The result is a structured, mineral-driven wine with rich texture and impressive ageing potential, representing the elegance and character of dry Tokaji wines.

Production Notes
The best Furmint grapes were selected from four prime vineyard parcels in Mád with volcanic soils rich in tuff, rhyolite and iron oxide. The wine was spontaneously fermented using native yeasts in Hungarian oak barrels and aged for around three years in oak followed by extended bottle ageing before release. Only about 1,928 bottles were produced, making it a very limited estate selection.
Tasting Notes
Aromatic and complex with notes of apricot marmalade, beeswax, smoky honey and subtle floral tones. The palate shows layered flavours of pineapple, peach and candied stone fruits with hints of sage, vanilla and spice, supported by vibrant acidity and a mineral backbone that leads to a long, elegant finish.
Food Pairings
Pairs beautifully with grilled seafood, roasted chicken, creamy mushroom dishes, Hungarian cuisine, and aged cheeses. The wine’s acidity and minerality also complement shellfish and lightly spiced dishes.

Born from the passion of two wine enthusiasts, Islington Wine is more than just a bottle shop. It is the result of five years of dreaming, planning, and sourcing with purpose. Every detail of Islington Wine reflects that vision. The space is thoughtfully designed with an organic, natural aesthetic and shelves filled with handpicked bottles from producers who care for their land as much as their craft. We call it wine design, a blend of taste, community, and creativity that turns every visit into an experience.
