Familia Torres Purgatori 2022 is an organic Spanish red wine from the historic Purgatori estate in Les Garrigues, within DO Costers del Segre. Garnacha provides its generous Mediterranean character, while the rare ancestral Gonfaus grape contributes freshness, spice, aromatic complexity and ripe tannins. The name recalls the Benedictine monks sent to this remote estate from Montserrat Abbey during the 18th century to perform penance while cultivating its demanding vineyards.
Tasting Notes
Deep cherry red with garnet highlights. The concentrated bouquet offers red blackberry, ripe fruit, dried dates, smoke and toasted nuances. Rich and balanced on the palate, with smooth tannins, refreshing acidity, warm black-pepper spice and a persistent finish.
Production Notes
The Garnacha and Gonfaus grapes are fermented in cement and temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wine matures for approximately 9–12 months in French oak barrels and larger foudres, including a proportion of new oak. Purgatori 2022 is certified organic and produced without fining agents.
Food Pairing
Pair with roast lamb, grilled beef, game, slow-cooked meat stews, roasted vegetables or mature cheeses. Its concentrated fruit and warm spice also complement Mediterranean dishes seasoned with rosemary and thyme. Serve at approximately 16–18°C.

We offer free next-day delivery on all UK Mainland orders over £150. For orders under £150, a delivery fee of £10 applies.
