Château de Pitray, situated in Gardegan near Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, is among the region's oldest family estates, tracing its origins to 1466 when Jehan de La Symas acquired a neighboring vineyard. In the 1960s, Louis de Simard de Pitray undertook modernizations, expanding the winery’s reach into the U.S. and U.K. markets. In the early 1990s, Alix de Pitray and her husband, Comte de Boigne, introduced barrel aging to elevate the estate's wines. Since 2020, Jean de Boigne has managed the property with Nina Mitjaville contributing to the cuvée production, carrying forward Château de Pitray's enduring legacy.
