Our flagship white wine at Quails’ Gate, the Stewart Family Reserve Chardonnay is locally beloved and internationally renowned with a reputation for quality and consistency. Made in limited quantities and New World in style, this rich white offers vibrant flavours and an elegant buttery charm. 


Our premium Chardonnay grapes are grown on the volcanic slopes of Boucherie Mountain just above the winery. The Stewart Family Reserve Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed and 100% barrel fermented in new and neutral French oak. Full malolactic fermentation was carried out to enhance the mid-palate, with aging on lees and regular battonage.


  • Expect vivid fruit aromas of honey crisp apple, nectarine and tangerine interwoven with notes of butterscotch and crème brûlé.
  • The palate is round, rich and medium-bodied with a lovely texture and mouthfeel. This year’s vintage is particularly com- plex with a long lingering finish.
  • The creaminess and freshness of this Chardonnay pairs with your favourite seafood cooked in a rich and savoury butter cream sauce, pan-fried halibut, hazelnut-crusted chicken or red pepper, corn or butternut squash soup. Enjoy at brunch with eggs benedict or a shareable dish such as a creamy burrata cheese accompanied with roasted summer peaches, pistachio, shallots and cider vinaigrette. Best served at a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius.
