Vintage conditions in 2013 created the perfect opportunity to produce this wine of sublime structure, balance and finesse. It has a backbone of Chardonnay which brings a bright streak of citrus to the palate with pronounced, rich aromas of pastry and buttered toast on the nose.

The label design* is inspired by Thomas Bewick (1753 – 1828), the Northumbrian artist acclaimed for his incredibly detailed, captivating wood-engravings of English life and nature. Bewick’s innate skill with this intricate medium proved transformative to the art of wood-engraving and the illustration of natural history. He was also known for his wicked, yet always sympathetic, humour - capturing drunks, louts and fools in the landscape of the day. Most of his pieces were engraved to be printed directly into books and are rarely larger than the palm of your hand, indeed he would sketch the idea on his thumbnail before committing to wood.

*Label image: Tail-piece in ‘A History of British Birds’, is said to be of Bewick himself as a thirsty traveller drinking from his hat.

Try with caviar, freshly shucked oysters and smoked salmon.. or simply enjoy the delicate nature of this wine on its own.
