Château Musar, nestled in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, was founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930 when he was just 20 years old, inspired by Lebanon's ancient winemaking heritage and his travels through Bordeaux. His son, Serge, began crafting wines in the late 1950s, with his brother Ronald joining soon after. Initially focused on local sales, the winery gained international recognition after a breakthrough at the Bristol Wine Fair, shifting its focus to exports following the end of the civil war. Now led by the third generation of the Hochar family, Château Musar continues to thrive, exporting most of its production. The vineyard spans a picturesque landscape between two mountain ranges, ideal for cultivating red, white, and rosé wines, as well as the traditional Lebanese spirit, arak. Château Musar’s robust reds pair beautifully with grilled lamb and rich stews, while their vibrant whites complement Mediterranean seafood dishes and fresh salads.
